Tree plate 2

These large plates and floor vases are ideal canvases for my interpretation of the wild landscapes of the west coast in fall: wet underbrush beneath dripping firs and cedars, mist rising from a ravine, mountains receding into the distance. The gray-green colour of the light on an autumn day and the gold and red of bracken, willow and huckleberry are depicted in celadon glazes and mineral crystals. Our Vancouver Island wilderness is fast disappearing under rapacious logging and a huge increase in human population. These pots are a memorial to the natural beauty which existed only one or two generations ago.
